Laughter Matters – Less Bitchin’, More Kitchen

Laughter Matters – Less Bitchin’, More Kitchen

A high school classmate of mine posted on Facebook, “When your woman is acting up, tell her, ‘less bitchin’, more kitchen,’ they love it when you rhyme.” and he spelled bitchin,’ b-i-t-c-h-E-n.

If I posted that, there’d be a crowd of women outside my door so large, they’d need a permit to congregate. Maggie would come in from Cincinnati, my sister-in-law, Ruth, and niece, Amelia, would come down from Chicago, my English teacher, Mrs. Bartlett, would be there, equally angry by my chauvinism and spelling.  They’d make Mom go to the back of the line because they’d want to inflict physical pain on me before she killed me.  They’d be chanting,

Violets are blue, roses are read,
When we get a hold of you, you’re gonna be dead,

because they do like rhymes.

Last week the employment report showed four times more women are dropping out of the workforce than men because of the additional demands of the coronavirus.  It is time for this chauvinistic attitude to end and men and women to work together.
